LEGISLATIVE UPDATE

Happy New Year!  

 

Congress passed the NDAA (Defense Appropriations) but they’ve only provided federal funding until the end of January 2026!  The indications are that Congress will avoid another government shutdown as mid-term elections are this year.  However, we need to be watchful and take action to remind our elected officials that uniformed service members need to be paid even during a shutdown. 

 

The MOAA advocacy website is an easy way to send emails to our congressional members.  The folks at MOAA HQ are working on identifying the topics that we will take to the Hill during the annual Advocacy in Action event in April. 

 

Be looking for communications from MOAA that detail those topics so that you can add your voice to message to preserve the uniformed services earned benefits that the visitors to the Hill will be articulating. With less than 7% of Americans able to claim the title of “veteran”, it is increasingly important that we who are veterans “Never Stop Serving” as advocates for those who have served.  Congress needs to hear from all of us!
