Vietnam Veterans Recognition Day (1959-1975)

On Saturday 28 March at the Decatur Civic Center John Raschke, a Lincoln Land MOAA Chapter member, was the keynote speaker for Veterans Recognition Day. This was the 13th Veterans Program held on the last Saturday of March. The event recognizes veterans who served during the Viet Nam War. COL Raschke USA (Ret) served in Viet Nam in 1969 as an advisor to Vietnamese military units. His speech encompassed the experiences of all of those who served in Viet Nam. He began with enlisting in the military service, basic training, advanced training, a tour in Viet Nam, and what we did after the war. He described the memories of all of us who served. COL Raschke’s book, A Tour in Chuong Thien Province, depicts the ordinary and extraordinary of life inside and outside the wire.
